Download HD JPGWhich library background fits your call?
Match the shelf to the meeting, not to the mood board.
| Call type | Best backgrounds | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Client call or interview | Victorian Reading Room, Professional Library Office, Law Office Library | Full book walls and timber read as senior and prepared, and the centre stays quiet. |
| Teaching, lecture or book club | Sunlit Reading Room, Modern Library Ladder, Scandinavian Book Wall | Bright shelves and daylight look approachable when you are on camera for a long session. |
| Quiet evening call | Home Library Fireplace, Dark Academia Study, Cozy Book Nook | Warm lamps and wood tones blend with a warm webcam image instead of fighting it. |
| Small room or wide webcam | Minimalist Book Shelf, Cozy Reading Corner, Attic Reading Room | Less shelf area at the edges means more usable clean space behind your head. |
What makes a bookshelf background work on camera
Three checks before you download.
Books belong in the corners
A shelf directly behind your head turns into visual noise once the meeting tile shrinks. Sit so the shelving fills the top corners and the wall behind you stays plain.
Warm room, warm face
Brass lamps and walnut shelves suit a warm webcam image. If your camera runs cool, start with the pale oak and Scandinavian shelves instead.
16:9 is already set
Every JPG is 1920×1080. Keep your head in the middle third so Zoom or Teams does not crop into the shelving when it reframes you.
File specs before you upload
Every download is ready for Zoom and Teams.
Resolution
1920×1080, a 16:9 frame. Zoom asks for at least 1280×720, so these files stay sharp on full-screen calls.
Format and weight
Plain JPG, typically a few hundred kilobytes each. Uploads finish quickly and nothing is re-compressed before the call.
Teams takes the same file
Microsoft Teams accepts the same JPG under Video effects → Backgrounds → Add new. No second download is needed.
No green screen required
Zoom and Teams can apply a virtual background without a green screen on most modern computers and phones. Even front lighting improves the edge.
How to add a library background in Zoom
Desktop first; mobile uses the same file.
Download the JPG
Use the download button under any room and save the original file, not the thumbnail.
Open Background & effects
In Zoom, open Settings → Background & effects. On mobile, open the meeting menu → Background & effects.
Add the image
Click the plus icon, choose Add image and select the saved JPG. Leave “I have a green screen” off unless you actually use one.
Need a different crop? Use the Zoom background size fixer, the background maker or the compressor if Zoom rejects a file for size.

Questions
Are these library backgrounds free?
Yes. All 14 JPGs are free to download at 1920×1080, with no signup, trial or watermark. Use them in Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.
What size are the files?
Every download is a 1920×1080 JPG in a 16:9 frame, the same shape Zoom and Teams expect. The originals are already full HD, so nothing needs resizing.
Can I use the same file in Microsoft Teams?
Yes. Teams accepts the same JPG under Video effects → Backgrounds → Add new. There is no separate Teams download.
Do I need a green screen?
No. Zoom and Teams apply a virtual background without a green screen on most modern computers and phones. Front lighting improves the edge more than any hardware.
Which library background looks most professional?
Start with Victorian Reading Room, Professional Library Office, Law Office Library. They keep book spines at the edges and leave a calm centre for your face.
Will the books make my video look busy?
Only if the shelf sits directly behind your head. Sit so the shelf fills the upper corners, or pick Minimalist Book Shelf, which has the least detail at the edges.
Can I use these in commercial calls?
Yes. They are free for personal and commercial meetings, interviews, classes and webinars. You cannot resell or redistribute the files as your own collection.
